Ruddigore

It’s been 13 years since we saw Ruddigore at Sudbury Savoyards, and we enjoyed it very much on Saturday afternoon. It was fun to see Jeremy White in his bucket list role of Sir Despard Murgatroyd, and Brendon and Kirsten Chetwynd as villagers. I knew one member of the orchestra, violinist Sandhya Ramakrishnan. Kathryn Denney was in charge of house.

I also saw Ruddigore in 2010 at First Parish in Needham, but I’m not sure that counts.

The cast was great, especially Lindsey Buccella as Rose and David Smyth (a Tufts math professor!) as Robin / Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd. The ancestors stepping out of their frames was better than last time, with backlit screens.
