I just finished The Pirate’s Clever Ruse, the fifth book in Patricia Rice’s Gravesyde Village Mystery Series. It was easier to keep track of the ever expanding list of Gravesyde characters since I read the previous book, The Madman’s Dangerous Delusion, only a couple months ago.
This book is about Cecil (Grey) Greybourne, Baron Greybourne—scholar, author, and Eleanor Anne Leonard—Greybourne’s over-educated assistant—who had been pretending to be male. Of course.
It takes place in 1816, and there are references to the year without a summer, due to a volcanic eruption at Mount Tambora in Indonesia.
Looking forward to the next book, The Killer’s Dastardly Intrigue, to be released July 21.
