The Dresden Files short story in Paranormal Payback was nice, but even nicer was the novella Out Law, by Jim Butcher.
There were 9 grimaces, which is a lot for a novella.
Highlights:
I have resting wizard face, which is to say I often look like I have had it up to here with everyone’s nonsense.
I don’t react well to threats. I have and will lip off to semideities and demons and monsters alike. But this was the IRS. A man’s gotta know his limits.
Bear asks Harry what a Rampire is: Red Court vampire. It gets to be a pain saying it over and over.
