Agatha Raisin, series 1

We started watching the first season of the Acorn series Agatha Raisin on Amazon last week, though we did realize that it was leaving Amazon very soon—tonight, in fact. We got through all but two of the episodes together, and then I watched the last two tonight while Joe as out.

The series is based on the cozy mystery series by M.C. Beaton (Marion Chesney), though according to imdb, with many changes. It was fun to watch, though not as good as Murder, She Wrote. I especially liked Ashley Jensen as Agatha Raisin.

Joe pointed out that many of the victims or murderers are local and they’re going to run out of villagers soon.

Highlights:

The Quiche of Death (# 0): double pilot episode; local production of Blithe Spirit

The Walkers of Dembley (# 1): Agatha, James, DC Bill and DCI Wilkes all crowding into tiny playhouse at garden shop.

Witch of Wyckhadden (# 7): Scrabble game

Murderous Marriage (# 8): barn dance; Agatha thought husband had died and didn’t realize he was alive?!?
